This second webinar in the Workplace Health & Wellbeing Leadership Series takes a practical, leadership-focused look at:
Hosted by the CIA with expert legal insight from guest speakers at Womble Bond Dickinson LLP and a facilitated Q&A session, this webinar is designed to help leaders understand what’s changing, what’s expected and what action is needed now – not just to avoid enforcement, but to reduce harm, absence and long-term cost.
At a time when stress, anxiety and depression are the leading cause of absence in the UK and regulatory scrutiny is increasing, this webinar provides timely, practical guidance to help organisations get workplace health and wellbeing right – for their people and for their business.
Why Attend?
Work-related ill health is no longer just a people issue – it is a significant economic, legal and leadership risk. Across the UK, poor health at work is costing the economy over £20 billion a year in lost productivity, with stress, anxiety and depression accounting for the largest share of work-related ill health and absence.
Behind these figures is a substantial human cost. Hundreds of thousands of workers experience prolonged distress, burnout and long-term mental ill health, with knock-on impacts on families, safety, engagement and retention. Poorly managed workplace stress is linked not only to absence but also to presenteeism, increased error rates and, in some cases, serious harm to individuals’ health and wellbeing.
Critically, regulators are no longer treating this as a “soft” issue. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has made clear that stress and mental health are health and safety risks and has confirmed it is actively investigating organisations where there are failures to manage work-related stress and wellbeing under existing health and safety law. Employers are expected to assess, manage and mitigate stress risks in the same way they would any other workplace hazard.
