This webinar, presented by the environmental monitoring and testing business Element, hosted by the CIA, will provide a useful update on developments in PFAS monitoring and testing and is aimed at those who may need to assess and manage the potential of PFAS contamination in waters, soils, wastes, firefighting foam, ambient air and emission stacks.

 

Contributors from Element include Mark Elliot (Technical Manager Emissions), Marie Armstrong (Senior Technical Specialist – PFAS Analysis), and Andrew Sykes (Commercial Director & PFAS Services Lead).

Agenda:

  • Introduction to Element environmental testing – field services and laboratory analysis. 5 minutes
  • Description of PFAS including what they are, how they are grouped and named, sources of information, 5 minutes
  • Recent UK regulatory activity and how this is driving PFAS analysis requests. Including matrices, “standard lists”, short chain, client specific PFAS etc. 10 minutes
  • Measurement of volatile and particulate emissions PFAS. Including US EPA OTM-45 and US EPA OTM-50 methods for stacks and for stationary sources, and real time monitoring by SIFT-MS 10 minutes
  • Current and future PFAS analytical options for soils, waters, wastes, foams etc. 10 minutes
  • Sampling considerations covering the potential for cross contamination and how this is managed in the laboratory and the field 5 minutes
  • Questions and Discussion We very much welcome questions from the CIA membership during the session or afterwards.    15 minutes
