About the Event

Procedures are critical documents for safely operating a process plant. Well defined, structured and consistent procedures will support reliable and repeatable operations, and form the foundation for driving continuous improvement leading to productivity gains. They are the documents new personnel should be trained against, and if well thought out will reduce the time taken for personnel to become competent.

This practical course will take delegates through the key principles of procedures covering how to structure and draft useable documents, and will cover the need for additional supporting documents such as checklists and job aids.

The different types of information that procedures should contain are explained, including elements that increase procedure adherence, capture operator knowledge and experience, and guard against loss of knowledge. Ways of formatting all this information that is easy to navigate and read are presented, reducing those “Too Long Didn’t Read” based mistakes.

In addition, procedures are placed in context with other tools and techniques to demonstrate that drafting good procedures will require more than just writing a document; the work environment and potential human errors should also be considered.

The course is interactive with lots of exercises and discussion. Our trainer has been implementing Lean style procedures in the process industries for nearly two decades and brings a wealth of experience to share with attendees.
